Partitioned Selection: A Selection Operator for in-vitro Evolution

چکیده
One potential application for biomolecular computation methods is the evolution of novel proteins[1]. However there remain a number of key problems, one being how to tie the evaluation of the phenotype (protein) to the fitness of the genotype (DNA). Artificial liposomes may provide a solution, by isolating DNA and derived proteins in cell-like partitions, so that the DNA may be associated with the fitness of its derived protein. This paper examines the behaviour of the corresponding weak selection mechanism – partitioned selection – within an evolutionary algorithm.

A Differential Evolution and Spatial Distribution based Local Search for Training Fuzzy Wavelet Neural Network
Abstract Many parameter-tuning algorithms have been proposed for training Fuzzy Wavelet Neural Networks (FWNNs). Absence of appropriate structure, convergence to local optima and low speed in learning algorithms are deficiencies of FWNNs in previous studies. In this paper, a Memetic Algorithm (MA) is introduced to train FWNN for addressing aforementioned learning lacks. Differential Evolution...
متن کاملOptimal Portfolio Selection for Tehran Stock Exchange Using Conditional, Partitioned and Worst-case Value at Risk Measures
This paper presents an optimal portfolio selection approach based on value at risk (VaR), conditional value at risk (CVaR), worst-case value at risk (WVaR) and partitioned value at risk (PVaR) measures as well as calculating these risk measures. Mathematical solution methods for solving these optimization problems are inadequate and very complex for a portfolio with high number of assets. For t...
متن کاملMulti-objective Differential Evolution for the Flow shop Scheduling Problem with a Modified Learning Effect
This paper proposes an effective multi-objective differential evolution algorithm (MDES) to solve a permutation flow shop scheduling problem (PFSSP) with modified Dejong's learning effect. The proposed algorithm combines the basic differential evolution (DE) with local search and borrows the selection operator from NSGA-II to improve the general performance. First the problem is encoded with a...
متن کاملEvolution Site Selection by Using an Analytical Hierarchy Process for Decentralized Wastewater Treatment Plants in the City of Qom, Iran
Introduction: Decentralized wastewater treatment facilities are an expensive approach for developing countries. Decentralized wastewater treatment plants (DWWTPs) are a flexible technology. They have low construction and operational costs. Site selection is the most significant stage in the implementation of a DWWTPS. Therefore, the present study aimed to perform a site selection among the prop...
متن کاملA COGNITIVE STYLE AND AGGREGATION OPERATOR MODEL: A LINGUISTIC APPROACH FOR CLASSIFICATION AND SELECTION OF THE AGGREGATION OPERATORS
Aggregation operators (AOs) have been studied by many schol- ars. As many AOs are proposed, there is still lacking approach to classify the categories of AO, and to select the appropriate AO within the AO candidates. In this research, each AO can be regarded as a cognitive style or individual dierence. A Cognitive Style and Aggregation Operator (CSAO) model is pro- posed to analyze the mapping ...
